Case Study: Feature Wall Installation – Ipswich Town Football Club
Client -
Layrd Design (on behalf of Ipswich Town FC – Hospitality Suite
Project Brief
Layrd Design approached us with a concept to create a 6m x 3m decorative feature wall for one of Ipswich Town Football Club’s hospitality suites. The design was inspired by Aztec patterns and linked to the club's sponsorship by Ed Sheeran, incorporating visual motifs from his album artwork.
The challenge: take a 2D design in PDF format and turn it into a physical, layered, textured wall panel — ready for transport, finish, and on-site installation.
Our Process
🔹 1. Design Interpretation
We translated the supplied PDF into layered vector files, ready for CNC routing. We advised on the best material thicknesses to create depth while staying within the project’s visual and structural goals.
🔹 2. Material Selection & Machining
We used laser-cut MDF panels in varied thicknesses to build the layered design. Each component was carefully nested, cut, and labelled to ensure a smooth build.
🔹 3. Finishing
Once assembled, the wall was coated with a stone-texture paint finish using Stonelux spray products, giving the final piece a high-end, tactile quality without the weight of actual stone.
🔹 4. Transport & Installation
Due to its scale, the wall was designed in modular sections for easy transport and reassembly on site. We delivered and installed the full wall at Portman Road, ensuring a perfect fit and seamless finish.
Outcome
The finished feature wall delivered a bold, tactile centrepiece in the hospitality suite — perfectly in line with the designer’s vision and the client’s expectations.
The collaboration was smooth and efficient, with Layrd Design trusting us to take on the full design-to-installation journey.
